REPORT ON THE MEETING IN SPAIN

On Sunday the 6th of May Erasmus students of Nuestra Señora de la Providencia school met to look for the components of the project that landed in Spain from Cyprus, Germany, Finland and Lithuania.

After a long trip to the capital by bus, we got to the  airport at 12, the time when cypriots and germans were already waiting for their reception.

While waiting for the arrival of finnish and lithuanians, we spent the day visiting Madrid, making stops at the most emblematic places of the capital. The best thing  came at “El Retiro”, where during our  free time,  we the students decided to go on the lake’s boats to relax after a long trip to Madrid.

Finally, the rest of the Erasmus students from Finland and Lithuania arrived, and they were able to return to Palencia, wanting to sleep and prepare for a week full of new experiences with people who would become great friends.

On Monday May 7th at nine o'clock in the morning the ESO students and the last elementary classes  received our Erasmus classmates in the auditorium.

We began the welcome with the visualization of videos on all the countries where ESO students of our school had been involved in this mobility (Finland, Lithuania and Germany).

We continue with a performance of a dance, performed by the sixth Primary students, with the typical songs of each country.

We ended the welcome with  some gifts to the Erasmus students and with the words of thanks of the German coordinator of the Erasmus project

Erasmus students from Cyprus, Germany, Lithuania and Finland carried out various activities at the school during their stay. In the mornings, they shared with us some lessons of the different subjects. Also, we visited with them the classrooms of Pre Primary and Primary and we played with the small ones of the school. It was a nice experience for everyone.

We met on May 8 with the Erasmus students in our free afternoon, which we took advantage of to visit San Pedro Cultural (Becerril). On this visit we taught the Finnsh, Cypriots and Germans how the solar system works and through a pendulum how the Earth revolves and not us. At the end of the visit we went to Palencia to show them the Main Street and its most important monuments

On Wednesday, May 9, the mayor of Palencia, Alfonso Polanco, received the group that forms the Erasmus.

He welcomed us in the auditorium where he thanked us for our initiative and welcomed the foreigners.

The councilor of culture also spoke and explained the gastronomy and history of Palencia.

Finally they gave us a gift that consisted of a keychain, a tourist guide and a pen.

In the evening, Erasmus + students had a guided tour around Palencia. At the beginning we were in the Plaza Mayor of Palencia where they told us their story and the history of one of the most important monuments by  Victorio Macho. Moments later after finishing the explanation we started the way to the Cathedral of Palencia then we took a couple of photos and started our way again, to the Cordón museum, it was a pity that we could not enter because it was closed. At the end of this explanation all Erasmus + went back to the Plaza Mayor and there after several minutes of conversation each one took his way back home.

On Thursday we had a trip organized. Our trip began at the school at eight o'clock to catch a bus to do part of Th Way that takes pilgrims to Santiagp de Compostela.

Our first stop was in Frómista, we got off the bus and noticed the cold morning, Victor our teacher took us to the most important church in the province. After doing the Way  we went to see the Villa Romana de la Olmeda, in which we made a guided tour of the facilities explaining the history of each of the mosaics and rooms. To end the visit we saw a video where it looked like the Villa was formerly, the distribution of its rooms and the different activities that were done in it.

On Friday morning we made a trekking route through the mountainous areas of northern Palencia passing by important mountainous areas such as the "Espiguete" or the "Curavacas". It consisted of 5km of ascent and another 5km of descent in total 10km. Where we could see the great landscape from the top of the mountains, making short stops to rest, take pictures and appreciate the beautiful landscape.

On May 10 we were all the Erasmus + together in the hostel where we would spend a fantastic night and full of adventures. When we arrived we distributed ourselves in rooms and we went to see the place. After the dinner there was a  party that we had organized the Spanish pupils.

The following morning when we woke up and  we went to have breakfast and later we would have to climb a big mountain.

After the morning mountain and eating we came to Palencia, around 8:30, we entered the hall to share the  dinner together for being the last night the Erasmus were in Palencia. The dinner started with a speech by the school's headmistress: Victoria thanking all the Erasmus students and all the families for their collaboration. Otherwise, this would not have been possible. After the speech, some students, both Erasmus and the school, sang a song

At the end of all this, which was around midnight, all the students said goodbye, it was very hard for us because we had shared such an  intense week.
