During the autumn sportday 7.9.2017 8th graders from Hatsala classical school tried new learning strategy: Seppo platform. It´s a tool for creating educational games. Seppo is tried and tested solution for integrating technology into teaching . It is browserbased, which makes it possible to use students´ own smartphones ,or devices provided by the school. You can utilize text, pictures, videos and applications of your choice.
This new way of learning combines experiental, projectbased learning and utilizing technology in a real life environment. Skills like problem solving, creativity, teamwork and sharing your know-how are the most important things you can learn.
First step is to choose the learning environment. We took Puijo national conservation area , the famous landmark of city Kuopio. It´s 150 metre high hill with a lot of paths. The map was selected from this area and it works as a game board.
